Moving to remote Shetland has been unsettling enough for consultant surgeon Tora Hamilton; even before the gruesome discovery she makes one rain-drenched afternoon …Deep in the peat soil of her field she is shocked to find the perfectly preserved body of a young woman, a gaping hole where her heart has been brutally removed and three rune marks etched into her skin. The marks bear an eerie resemblance to carvings Tora has seen all over the islands, and she quickly uncovers disturbing links to an ancient legend. But as Tora investigates she is warned by the local police, her boss, and even her husband, to leave well alone. And even though it chills her to the bone to admit it …something tells her their concern isn’t genuine.

Awakening by S J Bolton (Book Review)

Awakening by S J Bolton (Book Review)

From the author of Sacrifice comes her second novel Awakening and it is just as exciting. Her second novel Awakening by S J Bolton is published by Bantam Press. Its ISBN is 0593059239. This hardback thriller is set around the life of a vet Clara Benning. She loves her job as vet in a wildlife sanctary in Dorset, away from humans who do judge her by her appearance. This clever and caring lady is physically and emotionally scarred from a childhood accident. However when someone dies from multiple snake bites she is forced into the limelight to investigate the murder. Clara finds herself threatened and amidst sinister happenings her mum dies. The truth leads her to uncovering a secret of ancient rituals and a secretive community. Someone has a secret and will kill to keep it. This is a scary gripping novel that is excellantly researched. I highly recommend it. Reviewed by Annette Dunlea author of Always and Forever and The Honey Trap.
