Day 2 Ireland Results :
Swimming: Melanie Nocher failed to reach the semi-finals of the women’s 100m backstroke at the Aquatic Centre. She finished third in her heat but her time of 1:02.44 saw her finish in 33rd place overall.
Swimming: Sycerika McMahon competed in the Women’s 100m, finishing eighth in her heat in a time of 1:08.80. The result left her in 26th overall – not enough to qualify for the semi-finals.
Swimming: Grainne Murphy finished eighth in her 400m freestyle heat in a time of 4:19.07 and did not qualify for the semi-finals.
Sailing: Peter O’Leary and David Burrows finished in sixth place in the Star class race. They now stand second in the overall rankings at Weymouth and Portland Venue.
Canoe Slalom: Eoin Rheinisch clocked 90.72 on his second run in the men’s Canoe Slalom. Combined with his first run time of 89.87, he is now guaranteed a place in Wednesday’s semi final.
Badminton: Chloe Magee is due to play at around 2017
Boxing: Adam Nolan fights in the Welterweight division – he meets Carlos Sanchez at 2215.
Eventing Equestrian: Ireland’s eventing team is in 10th place having completed the dressage phase of the competition.
Camilla Speirs and Portersize Just a Jiff lead the Irish contingent at Greenwich Park after recording an individual score of 47.60 penalty points to lie in joint 27th place.
Aoife Clark and Master Crusoe are 32nd, Joseph Murphy and his mount Electric Cruise are 53rd, Mark Kyle and Coolio are 61st, while Michael Ryan and Ballylynch Adventure are 64th in the 74-strong field.
